Anna Leigh Ashford

Ashford will return in 2023. He will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who brought us Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford played Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. Her two-season stint on the CBS show B Positive was her first big part. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Also, she has performed in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first role of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford is a Denver origins native, and now splits his time between Los Angeles.
